Another Leetin TPK!

R.I.P. Salem Darkwatch...

Started a human wizard but wondering whether a human bard won't be better. With no combat character the party might once again be wiped. I might have to save the wizard until we have more consistent players... we'll see by the end of the week.

If there was ever a time to rally for starting out as a Multiclassed character of level 4/4 or higher the moment is now. I think the current catastrophe has illustrated that with only two players we might be outmatched as single class. One might ask you to tone down the difficulty but not I, I like the challenge I just think the party needs more resources available:

  • A 3rd level fighter minion
  • More magic(such as healing potions and wands)

I'm thinking of making either a Druid/Ranger or a Wizard/Bard

Thoughts?

Typh Farris Darkwatch

Sodden and streaked in muck the acolyte of The Earthmother perched atop a dead branch of a long dead tree. Beside her sat her companion. He seemed unfazed by the desolation around them. She seemed equally untouched by their current isolation. Her hair smelled and her face was buried somewhere below a mask of grime.

"Don't look at me like that, Kevin." she said.

"..."

"The Earthmother will understand! Joining The Darkwatch doesn't cause any conflict. You're wrong, Kevin! The Earthmother commands a return to nature and a restoration of order. The Order wants to lay asunder all that would horde their magics and secrets, such as those that have upset the natural order of things. Don't you see!?"

"..."

"Sometimes I think you the buffoon. Fine. Fine! We'll ask The Earthmother in the morning. She will answer. You don't hear her because you no longer believe, and because you're an idiot... or maybe you no longer believe because you're an idiot." She chuckled, a hearty and throaty sound. "I may have finally figured you out, Kevin."

"..."

"Don't get upset, Kevin. I know we didn't come here to argue but you're the one convinced that juggling loyalty to The Earthmother and The Darkwatch is going to be trouble. It won't! Oh, ye of little faith. You wait and see. What was that? Yes I see them coming to again try and bring us in for their sheriff's justice." She jumped to her feet and yelled at the top of her lungs. It started as inarticulate and primal but once she got her pursuers' attention she reverted to common. "THE ONLY LAWS I ACKNOWLEDGE ARE THE LAWS OF NATURE!!"

Quickly she shoved her stuffed bird, Kevin, into her satchel and dove from the dead branch of the dead tree to meet her next victims.

On my ride home last nite i was thinking about my NPC. He will be the dumb silent tank. High HP and low dam, the convo will remain basic....so will his INT. I will place him in your backgrounds after I read them both.

I was also considering the extra magic option in my own coocky way.

This will help a lot.

Talking about making the game easier....you both choose the swamp...prob the most fucked up terrain along side vast underground caverns.

My balance on this is a town or the town of Serrownil, the locals call it Sorrow Hill. Mystery and intrigue will be the game here on top of all the other horrors that come from the swamps.

Haaa, I see you liked the Wizards archetype and wanted to expand on it.

"Druid/Ranger or a Wizard/Bard"

If the druid/ranger is chosen your terrain will not be swamps, you need to be an outsider for my mystery to unfold properly. The versatility will come in handy though. Think about how hard it is to hunt in the swamp? a ranger can determine life/death of a starving party.

If the druid/ranger is chosen Wizard/Bard, the bard will be a great cover story for the wizard. His high CHR will also be key in likability.

I want to center the party around one town with a mix of travel and town adventure.

I was thinking the same thing in regards to the Wizard/Bard as a travelling minstrel a mage can mingle amongst the common rabble with the fools being none the wiser. My knowledge will seem to stem from my travels instead of my dark and forbidden education.

I'm going to try the Druid/Ranger first. I feel like rolling hills and open plains would be my character's terrain. I placed her background about four post ago. The npc is perfect. I feel like every encounter would have been just a bit less incermountable if we had just a bit more muscle. Again don't go easy on us but give us a fighting chance. I might post a background for my Wizard/Bard ahead of time as a preemptive strike.

I was feeling the Ranger/Bard as well. IT was a combo I always wanted to see played.

Any word on No-no? Will she be sticking with the Cleric? I also want to get at least a verbal background from her.

Thats why I chose the Tank. No one will outshine the heroes.

She's a little scattered. The idea of needing to pray has her paralysed with indiscision. She feels cleric is too complicated and learning a new class is equally as complicated... I hope she sticks with priest or foes half-orc monk, we'll see.

I dont really have the time to search for a spell point system online. Can you look for a good point system for us to try out...or maybe 2-3 options? This way we can stop using the memorization system which suxs.

I purchased a 2nd Ed. DMG for $6 and it will hopefully arrive before this weekend. I also bought the bestiary 3 for $25, this will arrive by then...two diff shipments.

I think a Barbarian requires a Chaotic AlG and a Druid Neutral...I might be wrong. If not they do have clashing views.
